9-23 call this a ponderable…

Naked Singularity

Who can grasp

100 sextillion—one with 23 zeros—

stars and suns lighting the universe?

Who can grasp

its diameter—93 billion light years—

to cross at light speed, 93 billion years?

Who can grasp

two trillion atoms—two with 14 zeros—

whirling, crashing, inspiring

each human cell?

Who can grasp

being pulled closer and closer to the event horizon,

by the grave’s gravity to the monolithic stone

in the valley of the shadow?

Who can grasp

women walking to a tomb,

seeing the rounded stone rolled aside—the tomb empty—

and suddenly two luminescent men asking

“Why do you seek the living among the dead?”*

*Lk. 24:1-5
