8-23 Teach Us To Pray

Teach us to Pray

Father, You as God made all life

And everything lowly.

You breathed Light in a Hebrew wife.

Hallowed be your holy name.

Holy, holy, holy!

You purify with Spirit’s flame.

Your kingdom come. When time began—

At birth near Galilee—

And at the cross of Son of Man.

Give us today our daily bread.

Baked dough is not the key;

“I AM the bread of life” He said.

Forgive us our sins, which reside

Inside, intrepidly,

And disguising as light, they hide.

We forgive those who sin on us

We nailed Him to the tree.

Yet He raised us miraculous!

And lead us not toward temptation

For You give guarantee:

The way to go; the way to shun.
