11-12 Come To Me

The inspiration of this is obvious. What every gun owner knows (and I have a handgun solely for home protection) is holding a gun welds power over life and instant death. I think in part, this is the fascination and obsession for men–power. Bigger more lethal guns = more power. For those mass murderers, it’s not mental illness but moral illness.

Come Unto Me . . .

The 6.5mm Grendel is my favorite. What other AR-specific cartridge shoots a streamlined projectile that stays supersonic to 1,200 yards? None even come close.                —Guns & Ammo

(Ballistics) 2550 feet per second / 1 mile < 2 seconds . . .

He points, sights, pulls 1 by 1 by 1—red-tipped bullets, 2550 feet per second . . .

.           .

Empty chairs. Empty closets. Empty seats. Empty pews.

Empty beds.                                        Street lights

brand the wall with blazon bars.

Clamping raw pillows, their dear ones           spiral

through sheer darkness into vast voids.

Every night I flood my bed with tears (Ps. 6:6).

Who can lift anvils from their gasping chests as

they stare at dark, starless ceilings?

Only

A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

Surely, He has borne our griefs

and carried our sorrows . . . (Is. 53:3,5).

He anoints salve for bloodshot hearts and

pours light into empty spaces

over lifetimes. 1 by 1 by 1 . . .
