12-31 Ballad of . . .

Some cynicism of US politics surfaced in this poetical rant:

Ballad Of The Golden Rings In Their Snoots

(AKA The Golden Fleece)

It does not take minds adroit or astute:

Mankind hastens in blind velocity.

Moral illness—leaves ethics destitute.

On Capitol Hill, they wink and salute;

Campaign vows add up to vacuity.

Lobbyists pimp for more to prostitute.

Reason and ethics fall in disrepute;

Scandals rise from backroom vicinity.

Men fondle, quickly deny and dispute.

Thousands of pages confuse and confute;

Tax laws bamboozle in verbosity.

Daily “Breaking News”—another lawsuit.

The spirit of law has become dilute;

Lawyers weasel with virtuosity.

CEO’s sail in golden parachutes.

Values have eroded and are dissolute.

Dear God, brace me in Your veracity—

Enable me to remain resolute:

Fill me with heart and power to transmute.
